Andrew Balding's Blue Bolt will attempt to extend her unbeaten run to seven races when she contests the $2 million Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf on Saturday 31 October at Keeneland. The four-year-old arrives from England riding a six-race win streak, the last four in Group 1 races, and ranks as the 5-2 favorite in a very tough, 14-horse field.

Perfect season for European champion contender

Blue Bolt is one of the leading contenders for Europe's Horse of the Year title, having been perfect in six starts this season. She has won all six of her starts this year and is a leading contender in the Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Turf. Blue Bolt won the Matron Stakes on Irish Champion Stakes Day September 12, 2026, at Leopardstown as part of her remarkable winning sequence.

Aidan O'Brien fields multiple runners

Blue Bolt faces strong opposition from the Ballydoyle stable. Diamond Necklace, the leading 3-year-old filly in Europe this year, is already a four-time Group 1 winner for Aidan O'Brien. The bay daughter of St Mark's Basilica has never finished worse than third with six wins from eight career starts. Most recently, she finished a solid third behind older males at Longchamp in the Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, Europe's premier weight-for-age race. O'Brien will send Diamond Necklace, the favourite, from gate number 12 in the mile and a half contest.

Irish-trained raiders complete strong contingent

Tiffany, a well-traveled Irish-bred mare, has run her last four races in France, England, Germany, and the United States. She followed that up with a victory over a strong field in the rich AGS Kentucky Turf Cup Invitational Stakes at Kentucky Downs in her most recent start. Tiffany is listed at 10-1 for trainer Sir Mark Prescott in Saturday's championship race.
